Website Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Economics
The FTC’s Bureau of Economics anticipates openings for junior and senior economists in 2023. Our staff of approximately 80 PhD economists analyze antitrust and/or consumer protection issues and make policy recommendations to the Commission. The Bureau of Economics plays an essential role in virtually all aspects of the FTC’s mission while striving to maintain a quality of economic analysis that rivals work done in major universities’ economics departments. Much of the casework done by the Bureau is economic analysis of issues related directly to law enforcement activities, such as case investigation or litigation support. The Bureau of Economics also maintains a working paper series, a brown bag series, a seminar series, and an annual microeconomics conference. The Bureau’s economists regularly present their independent research at seminars and conferences, and publish in top journals. Economists in all fields of applied microeconomics or econometrics who write and communicate effectively and have a strong comprehension of microeconomic analysis are encouraged to apply. Visit FTC Careers in BE for further information.
