Director of the Office of Evaluation and Oversight – 6 years fixed term contract.

As the leading source of development finance for Latin America and the Caribbean, the IDB Group partners 48 member countries to promote inclusive, sustainable, and climate-friendly development that reduces poverty and inequality. You will direct our independent Office of Evaluation, which ensures objective and impartial evaluations of programs as well as promoting transparency, effectiveness, and accountability.

Your perspectives and recommendations will contribute to improving the development effectiveness, relevance, and efficiency of the IDB Group’s interventions. We therefore require an exceptional professional with deep knowledge of the economic, social, and cultural make up of Latin America and the Caribbean. We are looking for a strategic thinker, well versed in cutting-edge evaluation methods, capable of defining rigorous, and when necessary innovative processes and practices, and who is familiar with investment and finance in the public and private sectors.

The IDB Group values excellence in leadership. In this vein, the Director of OVE must be a good people manager, who can prioritize, promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, and lead teams through change and transitions. Importantly, your ability to build partnerships and establish productive working relationships with the Group’s management team and the Boards will be an indicator of success. To do this you will have a team of more than 50 professionals and a budget of approximately US$10 million. Finally, the role requires advanced professional proficiency, both oral and written, in either English or Spanish, along with full command of the other language. Working knowledge of a third IDB Group language (Portuguese or French) is desirable.
