The Department of Economics and the Program in Public Policy Analysis (PPA) at Pomona College invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics specializing in Energy Economics. Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy, or a related field. The successful candidate will be appointed to the Economics Department and will be a contributing member of the Public Policy Analysis Program.
Faculty at Pomona College teach two courses a semester. The successful candidate will offer courses related to Energy Economics or Energy Policy for the Economics Department and will contribute to PPA by teaching either its senior seminar or a Policy Implementation class on a rotating basis. Faculty at Pomona College are expected to maintain an active scholarship and service profile. Teaching responsibilities at the College reflect this aspiration, supporting junior faculty with teaching assignments that reflect their research interests and goals. The College offers many forms of support for scholarship, including a full-year, pre-tenure research leave.
Pomona College’s student body consists of approximately 1,700 students, over 55% of whom identify as a person of color. Founded in 1887, Pomona College is the founding member of the Claremont Colleges, a unique constellation of five small undergraduate colleges and two graduate institutions located in southern California near the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Students of the Claremont Colleges can cross-register for courses at any of the colleges, and faculty and staff across the colleges often collaborate. Currently, the Department of Economics consists of 13 tenured or tenured track faculty members, and there are more than 50 economists at the Claremont Colleges.
