The Department of Economics at the University of Connecticut (http://econ.uconn.edu/) invites applications for a full-time faculty position on the Stamford campus, convenient to New York City, to teach undergraduate economics courses beginning August 23, 2022. The position will be for non-tenure-track “In-Residence” faculty, which may lead to long-term, multi-year contracts. The teaching load will be 7 courses per year or the equivalent, including upper-division theory and field courses, and principles.
The successful candidates will share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate level and to the mentoring of students in their professional development. Candidates will also share a commitment to the development and innovative improvement of economics courses. In addition, individuals will be expected to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and outreach activities. Successful candidates will also be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their activities the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; contribute to the development of pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.
1. Ph.D. in Economics;
2. Demonstrated excellence and experience in teaching;
3. A deep commitment to promoting diversity through their academic programs;
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
1. Active scholarly research agenda;
2. Complement scholarly activities in the Department;
3. Demonstrated interest in undergraduate instruction;
4. Experience teaching a variety of upper-division field courses.
This is a nine-month, non-tenure track position that may lead to long-term multi-year contracts. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2022. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Stamford campus. Faculty may be asked to teach at the UConn Storrs campus as part of their ordinary workload. Salary will be competitive with the national market.
